Haskins, Advocate, Partner

Cambridge, U.K. educated at Battle Abbey
School; graduated with a
London
University
honours law degree in 1988. Obtained Certificate of Linguists and
worked in the
United Nations in Geneva.
Called to the English Bar as a member of the Inner Temple
in 1989.
Obtained Certificat d’etudes juridiques francaises et normandes
in June 1990.
Called as an Advocate of the Royal Court of Guernsey in June 1990. Her
areas of
expertise are commercial and civil litigation; family law, real
property,
probate and succession, insolvency.
Interests include skiing, walking, tennis. Felicity is a member of the Institute of Directors, the Chamber of
Commerce and
the Family Law Bar Association. She is also a Family Mediator.
Alan
Merrien, Advocate, Partner
Born
Guernsey, educated at Elizabeth
College, Guernsey;
graduated Southampton University
with an honours law degree; attended the Inns of Court School of Law
and called
to the English Bar as a member of the Inner Temple
in 1992. Obtained Certificat d’etudes juridiques francaises et
normandes in
June 1992. Called to the Guernsey Bar in July 1992. His areas of
expertise are
civil litigation especially contractual and tortious claims, law of
property,
succession, company and general commercial law. Alan’s outside
interests
include the sport of bowls. He is a member of the Guernsey Fund
Managers
Association and the Chamber of Commerce.
Samantha Maindonald,
Advocate,
Associate
Born in
Guernsey and educated at the Guernsey Grammar
School.
Graduated from the Open University in 2005 with an Upper Second-class
Honours
Bachelor of Laws degree. Called to the English Bar at the Middle Temple
in 2008 and obtained the Certificat d’Etudes Juridiques
Francaises et Normandes
at the Universite de Caen Basse-Normande in 2009. Sam was called
as an
Advocate of the Royal Court of Guernsey in July 2010. Her areas
of
interest are Family Law, Criminal Law, Children’s and Public Law
and she has
worked as a Family Law practitioner since 2002.
Sam is
also an elected Member of the States of Deliberation (a People’s
Deputy) and
sits on the Home Department. Her term of office expires in 2012.
Sara Collins,
Associate, Not Admitted in Guernsey
Sara is
originally from Poole, Dorset
and was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2009 having trained at
Dorset
County Council where she specialised in Contracts and Procurement with
a
particular focus on County Council projects. With a Local
Government
background of 6 years, Sara decided to move into a different area of
law, and
moved to Guernsey in 2010 when she
joined F.
Haskins & Co in the Family Law department. Outside of work
Sara
enjoys going to the gym and is a qualified Swimming Teacher and
Aerobics
Instructor. Sara enjoys teaching swimming and aerobics whenever
she has
any free time.
Rebecca
Wherlock, Associate, Not Admitted in Guernsey
Born in
Bristol and educated at The Redmaids
School; graduated with a London University Honours Law Degree in
1994.
From 1995 worked as a Para-legal specialising in Civil litigation and
Family,
taking 18 months out to work in the management of a mental health
charity.
Qualified
as a Solicitor (England and Wales) in
2002 where she practised under her maiden name of Rebecca Gurgul and
where she
was accredited as a Specialist by Resolution (formerly known as The
Solicitor’s
Family Association) with particular expertise and extensive experience
being in
cases involving complex financial issues arising from relationships
which
include high income and/or substantial assets; also a Member of the
Family Law
Panel of the Law Society of England and Wales. She is also
trained in
Collaborative Law.
Interests
included reading, walking and fishing.
Marie
Millard
(Senior Conveyancing Clerk)
Educated
in Guernsey at the
Grammar School. After many years experience in banking and dealing,
Marie has
now changed track and has developed considerable experience in
specialised and
commercial conveyancing. She has assisted with the development of that
department within the firm. Her outside
interests include keep-fit and swimming.
