Estate Agents

Following is a comprehensive and detailed list of all of the major estate agents on the Island who can offer a wide variety of industrial, commercial and private residential properties for both the individual (local and non-resident) and companies.

There are two markets for property on the Island for residential purposes, these being "local market" or "open market". Local market properties are for purchase by individuals who are qualified residents as a result of their years on the Island, birth or otherwise by virtue of a housing licence issued for employment or other purposes. The open market is for all other individuals. Surveyors and Architects

Having found a suitable property for your requirements you will, no doubt, subsequently require the assistance or advice of a surveyor or architect for any remedial or alteration works to your own house or business. We therefore list the appropriate surveyors and architects offering their services on the Island who will also be able to assist and prepare appropriate design and planning applications.

Guernsey has specific rules regarding the development and use of properties. We can advise you on any specific restrictions or exemptions applicable to any particular property.

States Authorities

Below are the necessary contact numbers for the relevant States Authorities for information regarding housing licences/work permits, tax and social insurance.

Save for those purchasing and living in "open market" property, housing licences will be required for all those relocating to the Island and intending to gain employment who are not classified as qualified residents or who are not provided with such by virtue of their employment.

Only qualified residents or individuals with housing licences can live in "local market" properties. Should individuals be unsuccessful in obtaining a housing licence or not be intending to gain employment within the Island they should look to purchase properties that fall within the "open market".

Transport

Transport information is provided for your removal and/or storage requirements when relocating to or from the Island from either the United Kingdom or elsewhere.

Doctors

Initial points of contact for doctors is provided to enable you to register with an appropriate doctor when you have located your property.

Medical Specialist Group

After three months of residency in the Island and paying the requisite States Insurance contributions all secondary health care in Guernsey is free of charge. Private health care is also available and there is a ward at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital for private patient treatment.
